Play about plight of DREAMer students performs at Cal State Bakersfield

News

It was in Long Beach in February, but now a play aimed at getting the DACA narrative right comes to Cal State Bakersfield.

It’s called “Dreamers: Aqui y Alla” and features voices of students in the California-Mexico Dreamers study abroad program along with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals students and community members.

The play kicked off California Repertory Company’s spring season at Cal State Long Beach.

“I feel like DACA and Dreamers politicians use this as something to like fight for or against, there are real people that are behind this and real lives are at stake here and I think it’s probably the most important thing that I’ve ever worked on in theater,” the writer of the play Julia Edith Rios said.

The play runs Thursday, Oct. 25 through Saturday Oct. 27 at CSUB’s Dore Theater.

Tickets are available online at csub.edu/theatre. The tickets cost $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $7 for students with ID.
