It’s hard to believe 100 years ago – the flu was killing millions of young people around the world.
It’s part of our history – the Spanish Influenza – and local expert Garth Milam sat down with 17 News to talk about the virus that killed more people than the first World War.
Milam will be giving the final lecture in the Kern County Museum’s 2018 Spring Lecture Series on this subject Wednesday night.
It’s called “Plague in the Boomtowns: The Spanish Influenza in Bakersfield and Kern County” and it begins at 6:00 p.m.
The lecture is free for members, $5 for students, and $10 for the public.
