Update: Homicide detectives with Bakersfield Police Department have obtained an arrest warrant for Kaleb Kessinger, 20, for charges which include homicide and felony child abuse in the disappearance of 2-year-old Ramon Angel Reyes-Chavez. This is linked to Wednesday night’s search.
The call came out as a possible kidnapping, but have since ruled that out. 17 News first got word of heavy police presence at Olive and Calloway Drives just before 11:00 p.m.
Police had part of the shopping center at Olive and Calloway Drives blocked off as they towed what appears to be a BMW. The car fled from police, according to BPD’s watch commander. The car crashed and the driver of the vehicle fled from officers.
At last check, officers have not detained anyone, according to BPD’s watch commander.
Around 2:30 a.m., the shopping center was clear, but several police cars were just down the road near Riverlakes Drive.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the situation.
