Update (Jan. 9) According to the California Highway Patrol, an unidentified male pedestrian was struck by four vehicles, once by a hit-and-run driver on Jan. 6 on Highway 178 to Golden State Highway.
The unknown vehicle, that fled the scene, was traveling westbound on Highway 178 to Golden State Highway, a Hyundai Sonata traveled behind the unknown vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra traveled behind the Sonata and a Kia traveled behind the Sonata, according to CHP.
According to officials, the male pedestrian was walking in an unknown direction in the path of the unknown vehicle and was struck, the pedestrian was airborne and landed in the path of the other vehicles involved.
The drivers of the Elantra and Sonata initially went home but shortly after they returned to the scene, according to CHP. The Kia stayed at the scene.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident, according to CHP.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person is dead after a vehicle and pedestrian collision in Central Bakersfield Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.
The collision happened around 10:30 p.m. near Golden State Avenue and O Street, according to CHP.
The coroner’s office will release the person’s identity at a later time.
