Oxnard police officer injured in Kern County crash, files $15M claim over poor road maintenance

An Oxnard police officer injured in a training crash last year, has filed a claim against Kern County arguing poor road maintenance led to the crash.

Officer James Langford was injured on Sept. 26 when he crashed his motorcycle five miles east of the San Luis Obispo county line.

The claim, filed in March, says his motorcycle had no issues but the road was covered in loose gravel and other debris.

Langford has not fully recovered and was moved to a rehabilitation center.

With medical issues, along with being married with four children, the claim estimates his damages to be about $15 million.
