It’s a decades old tradition for the Bakersfield Homeless Center, serving a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings to people in need.
The Homeless Center does it every year celebrating the Thanksgiving season giving back to its current and past residents.
Organizers say, it’s really about bringing people together who may not celebrate Thanksgiving with anyone else this year.
“Bakersfield is the most giving community I ever lived in,” Bakersfield Homeless Center director Louis Gill said. “This is my 19th year, but I’ve lived other places and I can tell you that there are always folks that show up when we say we really need help.”
Over 600 people received a free Thanksgiving.
