Kern County showed their generosity once again this holiday season.
On Thursday, the Department of Human Services announced that over 1,000 wishes of children in foster care were granted this year as a part of the department’s 30th Annual Holiday Cottage.
The Holiday Cottage was established 30 years ago to fulfill the wishes of children placed in Kern County Foster Care.
Each child completes a wish letter with his or her first and second choice wish. The wishes line the walls of the cottage.
Holiday Cottage relies on the generosity of community members to visit the shop and choose a child’s or teenager’s wish to fulfill.
The gift is then purchased and returned to the cottage, unwrapped. The cottage arranges for the gift to be delivered directly to the child in time for the holidays.
