Two Operation Code Red outreach events will take place in Bakersfield, working to promote positive values in areas known for gang violence and other criminal activity, according to organizers.
The first event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Jefferson Park on Bernard Street, followed by another event at 5 p.m. Saturday at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on East California Avenue.
Operation Code Red is held in “strategic areas of our city where violence, drugs, gangs and prostitution [are] widespread,” according to Victory Outreach church, which is hosting the event, along with help from other churches.
Both events are open to the public. Attendees will be provided with free food, live music, entertainment, and various giveaways and prizes, organizers said.
