Oildale trailer park operator faces felony charge in 2016 death of 5-month-old infant

The district attorney has filed a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter against the operator of a trailer park in Oildale where a 5-month-old baby died in a fire more than two years ago.

Pama Management, Inc. ran 4J’s Trailer Park on McCord Avenue Jan. 25, 2016, when the fire broke out. The company also leased the trailer which caught fire, according to the DA’s office.

In a news release, the DA’s office said the company was “accused of failing to abide by its legal duties to maintain the trailer in compliance with the state of California’s statutory requirements for inhabited dwellings.”

The infant, Jenica Lozano, was asleep in the back of the trailer of the trailer when the fire began, according to a previous lawsuit filed by her parents. The parents claim to have been watching television in the front room when the fire broke out, and tried to save their baby, but couldn’t reach her in time.

The previous lawsuit was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

An arraignment for this new charge is scheduled for April 18.
