Kern County coroner has identified the woman killed in a five-car collision in Northwest Bakersfield on Monday night.

Betty Jean Hollins, 70, was driving eastbound on Rosedale Highway when her SUV was rear-ended.

Hollins was pronounced dead on scene, according to officials. Her passenger, a juvenile, sustained minor injuries.

Police were called to a report of the crash at Coffee Road and Rosedale Highway. The collision was first reported at around 8:10 p.m.

An adult male driving a black Honda sedan was traveling eastbound when he struck Hollins’ car. The force of this impact caused a chain reaction collision involving the three additional vehicles.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to this collision, according to police.

If you have any information on the crash, call police at (661) 327-7111.
