Officials identify teenager killed in Lamont shooting

Officials have identified the person killed in a shooting in Lamont early Monday morning.

Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 10400 of Elmco Avenue in Lamont for shots fired.

Police found two people in a car suffering from gunshot wounds after their vehicle struck a fence and a water line just one block over on Velma Avenue.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, 17-year-old, Thomas Noe Romero, died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to KCSO, the passenger was taken to Kern Medical for treatment after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, as well. 

Further investigation led police to determine the location of the initial shooting was on Elmco Avenue.

Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown.
