Officials identify man killed in McFarland shooting

Update: Officials identified the man killed as Raul Ortega III, 35, of McFarland.

McFarland police said Ortega was killed following a shooting in McFarland on Friday afternoon.

Police said the shooting happened in a parking lot in the 100 block of West Perkins Avenue at around 4:30 p.m.

Police said he was shot in the chest. He was taken to Kern Medical where he later died, McFarland Police Chief Scot Kimble said.

McFarland police are looking for a white, four-door Chevy that may have been involved in the shooting. There is no description for any possible suspects.

Kimble said the area is heavily traveled and is hopeful someone saw what happened.
