Officials identify iron worker who died from falling off structure at local Amazon warehouse

News

A construction worker at our local Amazon warehouse is dead after falling from a structure.

Kern County coroner identified the man as Brien James Daunt, 42, of Rancho Cucamonga, according to a news release sent Monday morning.

It happened just before 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Kern County Fire Department confirmed with 17 News the Daunt was pronounced dead on scene after a construction accident at the warehouse located off Petrol Road near Meadows Field Airport.

County fire says he fell from an unknown height from a steel structure.

“Facilities like, there’s a lot of construction, things that happen, safety is a number one priority for them as you can see, you can look over here and they have a sign that says safety first and so there are a lot of workers that are bummed out right now just because one of their own got killed today and so from a Kern County Fire Department standpoint we need to make sure we stay safe and individuals around us stay safe,” said Battalion Chief, Jason Schillinger.

Details at this time are limited, butCal OSHA is investigating.
