A neighbor helped sheriff’s deputies catch a shoplifter who KCSO says stole from an auto parts store in Northeast Bakersfield Tuesday morning.

Deputies said the man stole some knives from the Auto Zone on Niles Street just before 10:45 a.m.

They said he ran from store, but thanks to a neighbor, deputies found him about a half mile at his home at Kentucky and Tate streets.

He was arrested for petty theft and resisting arrest.
