National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday

Bakersfield residents will have a chance to turn in potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs, with no questions asked. 

The Drug Enforcement Administration is hosting its 15th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, April 28.

You can drop off prescription drugs at any of the following locations form 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.:

  • Bakersfield Police Department Headquarters- 1601 Truxtun Ave.
  • Kaiser Permanente Center- 3501 Stockdale Hwy.
  • Tehachapi Police Department- 220 W C St.

Last fall, approximately 912,000 pounds of prescription drugs were turned in to more than 5,300 DEA sites and 4,300 sites run by state and local law enforcement, according to the DEA. Cumulatively, more than 9 million pounds of pills have been turned in the past 14 events, nationwide.
