Phil Neufeld, president of FLICS International Cinema Society, joined Sunrise to talk about a movie airing at the Bakersfield Fox Theater this weekend.
“Gleason” is the story of Steve Gleason, a former New Orleans Saints defensive back, who at the age of 34, developed ALS.
ALS is a disorder that affects the function of nerves and muscles. Based on US population studies, a little over 6,000 people are diagnosed with ALS each year, according to the ALS association.
It is estimated there are more than 20,000 Americans have the disease at any given time.
“Gleason” is playing at Fox this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 and you can purchase them at the box office.
