Motorcyclist has died following crash in Northwest Bakersfield

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Northwest Bakersfield this afternoon.

On Sunday, at 1:42 p.m., Bakersfield Police officers responded to the intersection of Brimhall Road and Calloway Drive for a collision involving a motorcycle and white Ford Fusion.

Police say the motorcyclist, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

After further investigation, BPD stated that the rider of the motorcycle was heading northbound on Calloway Drive, and the adult male driver operating the Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Calloway Drive turning east on Brimhall Road.

Police say the man driving the vehicle failed to yield right of way to the motorcyclist.

It is not known if drugs or alcohol were a factor for the rider of the motorcycle, and his identity is not known at this time.

According to BPD, alcohol and drugs were not a factor for the driver of the Ford Fusion.
