There’s no sign of Oildale’s newest landmark.
An early morning car crash knocked down the Oildale sign that welcomes drivers, according to California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 5:10 a.m. on Chester Avenue just north of Beardsley Avenue when a car drove over the center divider.
The driver left the scene but came back, CHP said. Minor injuries were reported.
No arrests were made and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, according to CHP.
This is the second time the sign has been damaged. Only a few days after it was officially revealed, someone vandalized it.
The sign features two oil derricks with “Oildale” in an arch, similar to the Bakersfield sign and was established to reflect the pride of the people who live there.
