More than 50 people took advantage of a warrant-clearing event hosted Friday by the Bakersfield Police Department.

The event was held at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on South Owens Street.

Out of the more than 75 people who responded to the event, officers helped 53 people with the clearing of non-violent misdemeanor warrants without being taken into custody, police said.

Those who took advantage of the program were given new citations and new court dates.
