More than 150 local jobs are at risk as Sears and Kmart prepare to close in following the company’s bankruptcy.

Sears’ parent company, Sears Holdings Corp., says layoffs are happening at the Sears in the Valley Plaza Mall and at the Kmart in Delano.

The company notified the county of the pending closings earlier this week.

In the notice sent to the Kern County Board of Supervisors, the company said 106 jobs from the Sears store in Bakersfield, and 68 jobs from the Kmart in Delano will be cut starting at the end of the year.
