It’s the largest “Meals on Wheels” program in Kern County.
Volunteers with the North of the River Meals on Wheels celebrated Community Champions Week to highlight the invaluable public-private partnerships that provide the funding vital to the program’s success.
Several members of the 17 News family were on hand Wednesday morning to help prepare meals at the Rasmussen Senior Center.
And, for some it’s the only square meal they will eat in a given day.
Lunch is served to more than 100 seniors at the center every day and nutritious meals are delivered to more than 150.
Additional volunteers are always needed for the program.
If you know any seniors who could benefit from this program, or if you would like to volunteer, call 392-2016.
