McFarland Middle School students got a chance to learn about and explore their possible futures at the school’s College and Career Day.
The event was held Friday between noon and 2 p.m. at the middle school.
It was a chance for students who may not have been exposed to career and educational possibilities to gain a wider perspective, according to school councilor Joanna Medina.
“The community, a lot of our families come from first generation, so they are not exposed to what’s out there, what careers are available, what universities,” Medina said. “So we thought, why not bring what’s out there to McFarland?”
Students had the opportunity to explore and learn about a variety of career options, and speak with representatives from industries and schools that interested them the most, organizers said.
Representatives from the veterinary, law enforcement, and entertainment industries were some of those in attendance at the event.
