Marijuana Drama?: Supervisors spar over re-election campaign

A Kern County supervisor unleashed intense attacks on another accusing her of of dirty politics in an upcoming re-election battle.

Supervisor Mike Maggard went on a local radio show and accused Supervisor Leticia Perez, her husband Fernando Jara, and others of perpetuating a “scam” and “fraud” as he faces re-election later this year.

Maggard believes Perez and Jara have been trying to recruit a candidate to run against and eventually unseat him. Maggard says people in the marijuana industry want this too since he voted to ban marijuana businesses in the county in 2017.

Supervisor Perez declined to comment to 17 News Friday.
