Marijuana advocate fails to get restraining order against pot competitor and supervisor husband

News

Heather Epps, a marijuana advocate from Kern Citizens for Patient Rights, sought restraining orders against competing marijuana advocate T.J. Esposito and Supervisor Leticia Perez’s husband Fernando Jara Wednesday.

Epps alleged Jara and Esposito used the Facebook Page the ‘Valley Voice’ and other forms of social media to harass her, inciting threats.

Esposito admitted to making videos involving Epps on the Facebook Page, often repurposing local news pieces, but his lawyer argued it was protected free speech.

Esposito testified that Jara has “zero involvement” in the ‘Valley Voice’ website.

Judge Murray Robertson ruled against Epps’ petition for a restraining order.
