The man convicted of sparking a Lake Isabella grass fire had his sentence handed down in court Thursday.

Michael Bustamante, 34, was sentenced to one year in jail, and four years on probation.

The “Hub Fire” started last June and burned 35 acres off Red Hill Road. The fire threatened dozens of buildings, but none burned.

Bustamante was arrested two weeks after the fire started.

County fire arson investigators say Bustamante’s motive for setting the fire was tied to a love triangle gone bad.

Along with his sentence, Bustamante must also register as an arson offender.
