Yesterday at around 11:20 p.m., a man was shot while driving on state Route 99 just south of SR-223.
According to California Highway Patrol the victim of the shooting was traveling northbound on SR-99 when a matte black, 1996 or 1997, Honda Civic was coming up from behind at high speed. The victim saw the Honda approaching and moved into the number two lane to let the car pass.
When the Honda was parallel was to the victim’s vehicle the Honda’s right front passenger fired one round out of the window striking the victim in the back area.
The victim said he felt an impact to the middle area of his back and accelerated away, then drove himself to Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
CHP later contacted the victim and his passenger at Memorial hospital.
The suspect was describe as a male, light complexion, black beanie hat, and wearing dark clothing. The weapon used was a handgun, but type is unknown.
