One man remains listed as critical at Kern Medical after he was shot in East Bakersfield early Friday morning, and police are crediting ShotSpotter technology in learning more about what happened.
Police only described the victim as an adult male who was found with a single gunshot wound in the 1500 block of Lake Street at around 2 a.m.
According to police, the victim told officers he and two other friends were walking on Lake Street when another man confronted the group and started shooting and got away on foot.
Police are looking for a Hispanic male, between the ages of 20 and 25, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds and wearing dark clothing.
Police said the victim was uncooperative with officers and initially didn’t provide information on where the shooting took place.
In a release Friday afternoon, Bakersfield police said ShotSpotter technology was used during daylight hours to locate a scene and collect evidence in the 1800 block of Lake Street.
