Man hospitalized after being shot in northeast Bakersfield


A man is hospitalized after being shot several times in northeast Bakersfield while suspect is on the loose.

It happened on Knotts Street and North King Street at 4:40 p.m. Saturday.

Kern County Sheriff’s deputies say the man was standing near the intersection when a white sedan approached.

He went over to the passenger side of the vehicle and that’s when a passenger opened fire.

The man was taken to a hospital by ambulance with gunshot wounds but is expected to survive.

The vehicle fled.

The suspected shooter is only described as a man with several tattoos.
