Man arrested for stabbing death of 20-year-old girlfriend

A Mojave man is behind bars in connection with the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found in a field in California City one month ago.

Jonathan Rivera, 24, was arrested Tuesday in Lancaster for the murder of 20-year-old Veronica Medina, according to Cal City police.

Medina was found with stab wounds near Poppy Boulevard and Barron Avenue on Jan. 28, according to detectives.

She later died.

Cal City police say Rivera is in the custody of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

He’s due in Mojave court Thursday.
