A man arrested last week as a result of a murder investigation that began nearly 30 years ago, is now behind bars in Kern County.
Paul Sanchez, 54, was arrested by Phoenix police and Homeland Security agents in connection with the shooting of four people, including a minor, on May 21, 1988 on Griffith Avenue in Wasco, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. One of those shooting victims died.
In February, sheriff’s office investigators concluded Sanchez was possibly living in Phoenix and going by the first name of Francisco, which was just one of many aliases he had used since the shooting, KCSO said.
Sanchez was sent back to Kern County, and has been booked on one count of murder, and three counts of attempted murder.
He is due in court Thursday.
