UPDATE: Man seriously injured in early morning crash has died, CHP confirms

UPDATE: The man who was seriously injured in this morning’s collision has died from his injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The department said at around 6:15 a.m., a Chevy Malibu traveling eastbound on Di Giorgio Road was preparing to make a left turn onto Myrtle Avenue while a GMC was heading westbound approaching the Chevy’s location.

The CHP said the Chevy turned directly in front of the GMC and was broadsided on the passenger side. The collision pushed the Chevy into a Freightliner flatbed truck that was stopped on southbound Myrtle Avenue.

The driver of the Chevy suffered major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical, where he later died from his injuries, according to CHP. No other injuries were reported.


BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a major injury crash near DiGiorgio Road at Highway 184 in Lamont.

The CHP Traffic Page said a head-on collision was reported at around 6:22 a.m. At this time, the eastbound lane of DiGiorgio Road is closed.
