Low-cost and free flu shots will be offered to the public by Kern County Public Health Services.
According to the Public Health Department, the flu vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu, and it can be a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death.
Residents can take advantage of the following opportunities to receive a flu shot:
No Charge Clinics
Hosking Swap Meet, 1000 E. Hosking Ave., Bakersfield: Oct. 19: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Free flu shots offered on a first-come, first serve basis – doses are limited.
Routine Public Health Clinic
Public Health Services Building, 1800 Mt. Vernon Ave., Bakersfield: Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., either by appointment or walk-in. It is $9.00 per shot.
Seasonal Flu Clinics – Kern County
Ridgecrest: 400 N. China Lake Blvd. Oct. 23: 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Taft: Public Health Office, 915 N 10th St. Oct. 25: 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Delano: Public Health Office, 455 Lexington St., Every Wednesday 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Shafter: Public Health Office, 329 Central Valley Hwy., Every Wednesday 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. $9.00 per shot.
