An East Bakersfield restaurant has been shut down by public health inspectors after multiple dead rodents were found in the building, among other health code violations, according to the Kern County Public Health Services Department.

Los Reyes Restaurant at 813 Baker Street was shut down following the inspection conducted Wednesday.

Inspectors found dead rodents in the kitchen, food storage area, and in the basement, according to the health department. Chemicals were also found directly stored above the food prep area, officials said.

In addition to improper storage, the inspection report also cited the restaurant for having no hand-washing sink in the food prep area, holes in the wall and ceiling of the basement, grease buildup on grills and stoves, and “unnecessary clutter throughout the entire facility.”
