It’s been a long time coming, but dozens of Vietnam veterans received the ‘Welcome Home’, they deserved.
On Monday night, the gymnasium at Garces Memorial High School was a sea of red, white and blue, as a patriotic crowd welcomed 29 Vietnam veterans home from the latest Honor Flight Kern County.
The group took off Saturday morning on a trip to see the monuments built in their honor at our nation’s capital.
“It was beyond anything I could have ever expected. It was such a blessing to be able to be with these Vietnam era veterans, said Arlene Aninion, guardian to one of the veterans. “This is something that they deserved. They did not get this when they came home from the war, and this was long overdue for them.
This was the 36th Honor Flight Kern County.
