On Saturday afternoon protestors gathered for the 4th annual Walk For Justice.
Dozens marched through Bakersfield streets and made their way four locations where men were killed by law enforcement in recent years.
After an oversight board determined the actions of police were within department policy in each of the killings, families of the men killed say that is not enough to justify what transpired.
“We have to build a relationship with them. They got to be more compassionate with us. Just because we live in the lower areas, we’re not bad people. There’s a lot of good people here and we don’t deserve to be killed at the hands of them” said Leticia Delarosa, mother of James Villegas who was killed.
The Walk for Justice comes one day after Bakersfield Police held a Walk for Peace.
