Testing begins for KCSO’s detentions deputy academy

Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is looking for trainees to man its jails and prisons.

Testing for positions begins Tuesday, Jan. 21 for anyone who wants to become a student cadet.

The academy begins in April.

Testing takes place at the Kern Regional Training Center located at 962 Norris Road.

Graduates of the academy are not guaranteed a job with KCSO but can apply with the sheriff’s office or correctional officer positions at other agencies.
