UPDATE (Oct. 15, 9:05 a.m.) — The man wounded in the Oct. 9 shooting died on Oct. 13 and has been identified by coroner’s officials as David Moncada Zamora, 48. He was pronounced dead at 6:53 p.m. at Kern Medical.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Police are investigating a shooting that severely wounded a person Friday night in Central Bakersfield.
Police and emergency crews were called to a neighborhood near 6th and N streets for a report of a shooting just after 10:30 p.m. Officers found a collision in the area. Inside one of the vehicles, a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound, according to BPD.
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, the department said.
BPD said the investigation revealed that the victim was shot while driving through the intersection of 6th Street and N Street. Following the shooting, the victim continued driving a short distance until he collided with two parked vehicles on 6th Street.
