UPDATE (3:36 p.m. Jan. 9): The California Highway Patrol says Interstate 15 is open in both directions after being closed due to a car crash and the officer-involved shooting last night near the Nevada state line.
UPDATE: (3:02 p.m. Jan. 9): The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as the victim’s son, 27-year-old Madison Adams of Tehachapi.
UPDATE (11:45 a.m. Jan. 9): The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the woman has been identified as 55-year-old Guadalupe Adams.
UPDATE (9:30 a.m. Jan. 9): A person of interest in connection with the homicide was killed in an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday near the Nevada border, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The department said a man and a vehicle believed to be involved in the homicide was identified yesterday. At around 6:30 p.m., law enforcement located the vehicle on Interstate 15 near Primm, close to the Nevada border.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said it received a tip at around 3:30 p.m. to be on the lookout for a person driving a silver 2017 Nissan sedan that was possibly in the Baker area.
Deputies and officers with the California Highway Patrol and Nevada Highway Patrol were checking the area when the CHP located the vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the northbound I-15, south of State Line.
As the officers conducted a traffic stop, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The unidentified suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said a woman’s body was discovered inside a home in Golden Hills and her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Deputies were called to a home in the 21800 block of Quail Springs Road at around 2 p.m. Inside the home, deputies found a 55-year-old woman with traumatic injuries, KCSO spokesperson Angela Monroe said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
