A semi truck driver has major injuries after he lost his brakes and crashed near the base of the Grapevine. It happened around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
California Highway Patrol said the truck lost its brakes coming down the grade. The driver attempted to stop by going off the highway near Grapevine Road, but crashed as a result. According to CHP, the truck was going 70 to 80 miles per hour.
According to CHP, a 24-year-old female passenger has minor injuries. The driver of the semi was extricated more than two hours after the crash. He was transported by helicopter to Kern Medical.
