UPDATE: Man killed in Hwy. 65 crash identified

UPDATE (7/19): The Kern County Coroner has identified the man killed in the crash as Maurilio Heredia Herrera.

UPDATE (7/13): A 27-year-old Carson resident was killed in Saturday’s crash, according to the CHP.

The department said a 2003 Infiniti was traveling southbound on Highway 65 while a 2011 Chevrolet was heading northbound. The Infiniti entered the opposing lane to pass a vehicle and traveled directly into the path of the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a Bakersfield man, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Kern Medical for treatment, according to the CHP. The driver of the Infiniti suffered major injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene on scene.

(7/12): BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A person has been killed in a crash on Highway 65 just after midnight on Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol is reporting that a Chevy pickup crashed into another vehicle on the highway at James Road. No information has been provided at this time on what led up to the crash. This article will be updated once more information becomes available.
