UPDATE (10/27, 3:02 p.m.) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed on Manor Street as 58-year-old Bobby Lee Bullard.


UPDATE (10/27, 8 a.m.) —Two box trucks were involved in an accident yesterday that killed a pedestrian.

The California Highway Patrol said a Ford food delivery truck was parked on the south shoulder of eastbound Manor Street while the pedestrian was standing in one of the lanes on Manor. In addition, a Hino box truck was heading eastbound on Manor approaching the parked Ford and the pedestrian.

The department said the driver of the Hino truck saw the pedestrian in the roadway and moved to the left side of the #2 lane. As the truck passed the parked Ford truck, the CHP said the passenger side mirror struck the opened reefer door of the Ford.

Immediately after the crash, the CHP said the pedestrian was struck by the passing Hino truck. Eastbound lanes on Manor Street were closed from N. Chester Avenue to about one fourth of a mile east of Felton Street for approximately three hours for investigation.


UPDATE (10/26 8:15 p.m.): According to California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian hit on Manor Street was pronounced dead at the scene Monday evening. CHP says the pedestrian, a white male, was in the roadway removing items from a commercial work vehicle when he was struck and killed.

According to CHP, alcohol or speeding does not seem to be a factor in the collision. CHP says the driver of the vehicle was within the bounds of the law when the incident occurred. The driver remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.


BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A pedestrian was struck by a white box truck in the Oildale area Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP’s traffic incident page indicated the coroner’s office had been notified of the 4:30 p.m. crash on Manor Street, east of Felton Street. No other details were immediately available.
