UPDATE: Woman, 72, struck and killed in Arvin identified

UPDATE (10/6): The 72-year-old woman who died after being hit by a vehicle last week on Monday has been identified as Arvin resident Maria Angela Morales, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.


ARVIN, Calif. (KGET) (9/27) — A 72-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle Sept. 27 morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 7:34 a.m. on North Comanche Drive at Russell Street, according to the CHP.

Officers said the woman walked directly into the path of a car traveling south on Comanche Drive and was hit. She died at the scene.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, remained at the scene, officers said. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor, according to CHP.

Comanche Drive was closed for three hours between Sunset Boulevard and Buena Vista Boulevard.
