Pedestrian severely injured after being struck by car in South Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield police said a man was severely injured after being struck by a car on Panama Lane Wednesday night.

Bakersfield police said a pedestrian was hit in the 700 block of Panama Lane at around 9:45 p.m. near Monitor Street.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries and is listed as critical.

Traffic on Panama Lane needed to be closed between Monitor and Lowry streets for the investigation.

Officials said DUI does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
