UPDATE: Mexicali is set to reopen in a few days after temporarily closing its restaurant on 18th Street earlier this week upon that two employees recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Co-Owner Irene Ramirez said the restaurant will open for takeout on Tuesday and is expected to be open for dine-in customers later in the week. The restaurant has been temporarily closed as a safety precaution.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — People looking for a bite to eat at Mexicali have noticed that it has been closed and will be for a few days.
17 News went by the restaurant on 18th Street and found the door closed and a sign on the door that read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are closed for the next few days. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.”

It wasn’t clear what those circumstances are. 17 News reached out several times to ask why they closed, but have not heard back.
