Man, 69, dies in off-road vehicle crash

UPDATE (10/28) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in an off-road vehicle crash as 69-year-old Andrew Lester Helms from Caliente.

A postmortem examination determined his cause of death was Blunt Force Neck and Chest Trauma. The manner of death was an accident.


BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 69-year-old man who died when he lost control of an off-road vehicle and crashed into a hillside has been identified.

Andrew Lester Helms, of Caliente, died at the scene of the Oct. 18 crash on Canton Way, south of Caliente Creek Road, according to coroner’s officials. The California Highway Patrol was investigating.
