BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Landline phone numbers with a 760 area code were down Thursday, according to sheriff’s officials.
The outage means 911 cannot be called, and those with an emergency were asked to call from a cellphone.
In California City, 911 calls will be diverted to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and residents are asked to call the California City Police Department for non-emergencies at 760-373-8606.
Ridgecrest police provided temporary emergency numbers in the city. If you have an emergency, you are asked to call 760-499-9611 or 760-499-9651.
Officials said they would provide an update when the issue was resolved.
