UPDATE (3:30 p.m. Jan. 13): The Kern High School District issued a statement on the homicides:
“The Kern High School District community, Mira Monte High School, and Nueva High School are grieving the loss of two of its students. We extend our sincere sympathies to the families,” the district said. “The school sites are devoting considerable efforts in helping our students and staff deal with the tragic passing of these students.”
The district said grief counselors are on campus and are available to all students and staff.
UPDATE (2:37 P.M. Jan. 13): The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified the other two killed in the shooting as Valentin Eli Ramirez, 16, and Raul Fernandez, 17.
UPDATE (2:20 p.m. Jan. 13): KCSO has identified the 18-year-old killed in the shooting as Adrian Ochoa.
UPDATE (10:40 a.m. Jan. 13) : KCSO confirmed on Monday that last weekend’s shooting in Lamont was gang-related. In addition, the department said the three people killed in the shooting were 16, 17 and 18 years old.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — KCSO said three men were killed in a shooting Friday evening in Lamont.
Deputies were called to the scene at around 7 p.m. in the area of South Fairfax Road and Buena Vista Boulevard.
Deputies were called for a shots fired call and found two males in a car that were unresponsive. They were eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
A third man was found dead a short distance away in a vineyard.
No descriptions of possible suspects were provided and no arrests were made.
