Grade Fire burns 98 acres north of Bakersfield, 100% containment

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County firefighters have gained full containment of a fire burning in an oil field Wednesday evening north of Bakersfield.

The fire, known as the Grade Fire, was declared at 100% containment and burned 98 acres.

The fire was reported at Weller Road and Justin Way at around 5:30 p.m.

Kern County Fire said crews gained an upper hand on the fire and stopped its forward progress at around 7 p.m.

It’s unclear how the fire started.
