Bakersfield, Kern County fire departments cracking down on illegal firework use

Local News

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire Departments are cracking down on illegal fireworks. Both departments reported an increase in illegal firework activity. Because of this, the BFD has established teams of unmarked vehicles and fire engine companies to issue $1,000 citations to those who violate fireworks laws.

Both departments are asking you to report illegal fireworks electronically in order to free up the 911 emergency dispatch systems.

Citizens are encouraged to utilize the email firework@bakersfieldfire.us to report the illegal use of fireworks to the Bakersfield Fire Department, or download the Bakersfield Mobile App.

Illegal fireworks can also now be reported on the Kern County Fire Department website by going to kerncountyfire.org and filling out the form to submit to the department.
