UPDATE: (7:45 a.m.): Highway 58 in the area of Towerline Road in Tehachapi is still closed in both directions due to snow and ice, according to the CHP.
With I-5 also closed, the only available alternate route for those heading south out of Kern County is westbound Highway 166, according to Caltrans.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Highway 58 is closed due to snow, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both Eastbound and Westbound lanes are closed on Hwy. 58.
It is unknown when the roadway will reopen.
